    Anyone tried the beta?

    I've not got access but have been looking through some of the threads on the FDev forums, and some of the Avatar shots are (to my eyes) incredible.

    - Expect to be exploring for over 30 days

    Not the best in a game, and I'm a big fan of Character Creators...
    Lots of presets, but without that much variance between them. The best CCs have a few wildly different starting presets that you can then mod to match what you want. Same goes for the components, even with the sliders.
    It would take a couple of hours with a mirror to get this thing looking anything like me or my friends.

    Would be nice to have adjustable body dimensions too, at least within a certain range as your avatar must still be able to fit in the seat and reach the controls.

    **SPOILERS**
    I like ship naming and some of the other little add-ins. I didn't see any of the new decal colours and features in the shop yet, though, so I guess those will only appear/be revealed once this goes live.


    Some other great-sounding features in the release notes, so will have to take a trip out and see - Hopefully tonight.

    Not played for ages so thought I would have a quick play.

    I was unsure enough about being able to remember where all the controls are that I bought an Eagle and upgraded it rather than risk an embarrassing insurance claim in the FAS which appears to be what I was flying when I last played, at least it wasn't the Conda .

    I stopped playing when Engineers came out, so lots has changed.

    One of the first things I did was target a USS which turned out to have an escape pod in it. Now marked as legal salvage, so I scooped it into half of my 2T hold. Did some bounty hunting at a low resource site with the help of police ships to keep things easy, turned out as a nice profitable run.

    But I still have that escape pod in my hold. Are you supposed to sell them as slaves? Where I am docked it appears they aren't into that sort of thing so I expect the poor sod is about to get ejected into space.

    Edit: Silly me, found them under "salvage". Is a life worth 2.5K? I guess doing a good deed should be reward in itself

    I think they're also useful as mission rewards. I recall picking them up off planet surfaces a while back for mission rewards

    Ooh, LHS 304, my first visit to a Neutron Star. Such a pretty game this!

    Is it just me that gets a momentary pause in the game at the start and/or end of a jump? From the Windows resource monitor it looks like it is network related as there is a big burst of traffic when it happens.

    Figured it must be something like that, but then I had assumed that covering that was the whole point of the jump animation where the universe whizzes around you.

    True but it's not just about pure bandwidth at your end, it's anyone else you're potentially syncing with and FD's servers who organise all the P2P stuff. As such it'll never be 100% seamless, especially at peak times.

    Had a quick play in Multicrew and with the new camera suite - Awesome stuff!!!
    Bit buggy, mainly due to my naff broadband, but still playable and gives another dimension to the gameplay.

    Looking forward to getting a big ship again and having friends play on board!
