970 help

I'm thinking I may have some issues with my 970 with other owners with a 970 can run the heaven benchmark at 1440p with the settings maxed out with tessellation and everything enabled. It would be a massive help.

When i run the test after a system start up i get 594 but when I alt tab in and out and run the test again I get 759. Im going to try again with nvidia shadow play disabled to see if that makes a difference. I also get texture flickering in some games like bf4. I read elsewhere that the flickering can be resolved by reinstalling windows, which is something I really don't want to do. Would doing a refresh be as effective and fix the problem?

I get texture flickering on BF4 - think it's the game rather than anything else.

I just ran the benchmark on my MSI 970 Gaming 4G card (not over-clocked) - with everything maxed-out at 1440p, I got 823 the first pass. I then Alt-tabbed out to Windows & went back in, & got 818 the second pass. Hope that helps?

@MrJim: If your settings are the same; then that's quite a big difference between our cards. Thanks for running it.

@MrRockliffe: I don't think I had the texture flickering before reseating the card. In any case the score discrepancies must be a tell that something's wrong.

I didn't know that lol mr jim does have a newer cpu. However i did lose 200 points between different runs.

Linus ran a 4790K in sub zero OC to 5GHz and got 120 less than a stock 4790K with Intel heatsink on cinebench. Could be the software.

Yep, those are the same settings I used..my CPU is a 3570K @ 4.4Ghz...

I did the refresh last night and it was a pain to sort everything after but the system feels like its running quicker. I'm going to try another benchmark after lunch.

Are you overclocking at all?

Not necessarily on the card itself... some BIOS has a PCI-E frequency overclocking setting which can cause texture issues (I speak from experience!)

Not to my knowledge. Right now since the refresh I am getting more consistent performance in games but still random scored in heaven. I will check bios stuff in abit.

No, it's just something people say because they've often listened to other people that haven't read things properly. Sure, frame times are higher, but only when running battlefield 4 and higher than 4K, at which point FPS is below 30 anyway...

Any 3 GB card has the same issue, as it has to re allocate memory as soon as it hits the limit. One doesn't notice it, however.
