Just had my first iRacing race win!

    Get in!

After pretty much solidly playing iRacing over the last few weeks I've finally got my D class licence and have have won my first race all in the last week!

I made a quick and dirty (and a almost uneventful one) video from the saved replay.
Apologies for the crapy video I'm still getting used to the replay functions.

I started in 2nd on the grid and was pretty much gifted the lead on the 2nd lap (although I was pushing hard and probably would have had they guy in the next lap or so anyway). I had a couple of squirely moments while I was pushing to stay ahead

For those that don't know iRacing is a proper racing simulator that is run under a subscription basis. It tries to mimic a real racing career, you start of as a rookie with limited access to tracks (both road and oval) and have to earn higher licenses to allow you to race in the higher categories. The great this is the Safety Rating, every time you get a wheel off or have contact you will get a penalty, the more clean corners you string together the better your safety rating gets, the faster you can get your licenses.

This is quite an interesting video featuring Gergger Huttu, the worlds fastest alien. Gregger has just won his 50th race in the iRacing GP world Championship Series. He is phenomenally quick in a sim and in the video he gets to drive a real race car

    Congrats ;-)
I don't know if Iracing still runs the same system but i remember finishing 5 or 6th and getting more points than one of my wins.
I remember that Gergger Huttu video when i used Iracing, it was really good of them to do that. Especially as at the time Iracing still wasn't turning a profit iirc.

I just re-subbed to see how much it's changed. Good thing is it keeps all your old data so i could see my last race was season 2 2011 ....
Not sure i'f i'll stick around yet but it'll be interesting to see how far it's come.

Re: Just had my first iRacing race win!

I originally signed up ages ago played very occasionally (and badly) now I've decided too spend some time on it to improve.

Just had a play in the Ford Spec Racer and was loving it, will stick with the MX5 till the end of this season then switch I think.

Jump on Biscuit's teamspeak server I'm on there most nights.

Re: Just had my first iRacing race win!

Still havn't got round to buying a headset ....
Still, on Iracing it's only a few people shouting at each other after an accident ....
The HPD and Star Mazda are at Brands, might give one of those a try. This week. Public practice servers first though i think. see how i manage. The fact the HPD is in multi class is a bit daunting.

Re: Just had my first iRacing race win!

Well, i'll be honest. I'm starting to remember why i left rather than why i liked the game so much early on.
