Today, on this momentus day, I decided that my nine year old was ready for Quake II

I tried hard to talk at the exact moments in the intro when the swear words were, and he was hooked in

funny isn't it? the blood and gruesome violence worry me not one jot... I know he understands it's a game. But a few four letter words and I'm reaching for the earplugs

Anyway.... although I only have one copy of Q2, I've installed in on two PC's because, as memory serves well, Q2 could be played on a LAN with only one copy.

So...all the minecraft he's played has prepared his keyboard/mouse skills.

Prepare to get mullied, my teenager can whup me everytime on console, he sets the right analog stick to highest sensitivity so turns in an instant and can hit a flea at 2000 paces.

Mind you he can't get his head round Speedball 2!!!

I have fond memories of Q2 LAN games. Q2 in general. First game I played on with my Voodoo 1 - mind blowing.

I seem to remember "Lithium mod" was the fun one for multiplayer. Might have to dig that game out again...
