Not put up any photos here for a little while, so here's a small selection:

    Geek-out!

This is always a good feeling...

    This one's better

Bit of long exposure. I kinda like the crazy flare going on.

Too warm! (For me at least) - love to see that as a B&W or nicely cold shot.

Love the big flare that's encompassing most of the shot - is there any more of the scene you can uncrop to accentuate it? Not so keen on the effect it's had with the nearest light - maybe if you cleaned up some of the 'smudges' between the rays it would be better IMHO.

Too warm Kalnial? Fair enough - I'll have a look later.

Take my comment with two disclaimers: 1) I'm a novice, 2) I'm viewing it on two monitors with different calibrations. It looks less warm on my gaming monitor, but I know that that's calibrated a little cooler than normal (deliberately), and even then it's still a touch too warm for my tastes on that particular shot (I prefer the colour temp from the pre-compiled shots).

    Here's a B&W of Edinburgh:
    Nice.

    Re: Photo-a-day

Going along the Birdlip road tonight I decided to stop and get some photos of Gloucester. It was bloody cold, and standing on the edge of the hill caught all the wind so I didn't hang around for long, especially as I only had a T-shirt on. It was a bit strange standing in clear weather with an almost full moon behind me, and looking down on Gloucester, hidden in sheets of rain.

    On a side note:
I got my Redsnapper tripod on Friday having ordered it late on Wednesday evening. It's so much better than my older Velbon cx540! It doesn't wobble all over everywhere with my 50D and Sigma 50-500mm. It has rubber feet that can be screwed further up the legs to reveal some metal spikes, which is good for soft ground. One leg is sturdy enough to use it as a monopod. It's taller than my old tripod extended, and the same height retracted, so no more squating to take a photo. It comes included with a good quality shoulder bag. I'm pretty happy with it so far, although I haven't had much chance to use it.
