    I believe it's a clever trick in photoshop, if you use an airbrush type tool in the corners, it gives the effect of a shadow and "lift".

    You set it up as a macro (Think thats what its called) command. When you're finished editing the photo, click the commmand and it adds the border.

    You can download them on the web or make your own (Which isn't that easy)
