Thanks for the tips, always good to get.

I had to take them from quite a distance and zoomed in, did not fancy wading through the pond, aperture was 3.5 I think.

In the internets, no one can hear you sarcasm.

Odd you should say that. This weekend was spent unjamming the garage door because someone had opened it, crushing the birds and the nest and winding them round the roller a few times - not a nice job. No pics either

    Re: Photo-a-day

Well, I'm just back from having spent my first weekend at the Nurburgring. A truly terrifying yet awesome experience.

Couple of shots. Taken in convoy with a load of Porsches and Ferraris. The sound of those Challenge Stradales is something to behold

And the ubiquitous Ring Taxi. Utter M5 ness

Edit: have to admit I find motorsport photography the most challenging so far. Trying to take at slow enough shutter speed so you get a bit of wheel blur, yet manage to track the target perfectly so the car is sharp takes an awful lot more practice and technique than I anticipated. I've been taking car photos with good glass so can't blame the kit for bad results

first you have to buy a camera with a decent zoom and the ability for remote control (i used a radio control for my 20D)

then you set up the camera on a tripod pointing towards the nest when Dad is out gathering food

i also used a radio remote for my 580EX which was setup @ 1/16 in manual bounced to give enough light (its damn dark in that part of the shed)

then i waited for dad to fly into the shed and then peeped through the window to get him feeding the kids (i only took the one shot)

the above shot was taken with me in the shed at the time, with the camera against my face they don't seem to bothered by me, if i keep still long enough

not bad your macro work is getting better all the time (just need the eyes in focus next time ) try reducing your aperture somewhere around f11
