    need a cheap digicam

not long ago i brought a sub £100 5mp digi cam, wasnt bad, but i didnt like the fact it only saved pics as JPG, image quality was terrible once it was in JPG..

anyway Dad's fixed that and taken the cam swimming

so any bargains out there under £100, 5mp + and the ability to save in high quality format would be a bonus, if i take a 5mp shot i want a 5mp sized file

    thanks in advance.

For £100 G I don't think you'll get anything that shoots in RAW or DNG. You'll have to spend a little more to get something suitable.

Have you got an example of a average photo from the old camera?

not to hand no m8, not in its original format anyway, but you could tell when you looked at a black area, squars and allsorts showing, looked horrible

    anything but JPG only !

to be honest your gonna have to go fo something like the Fuji S6500FD to get something that saves in RAW, or something in that area... bridge camera...

this one isnt in that range and only saves a JPEG, but i can assure you its a good camera....

Just to let you know, shooting in RAW can be a faff for holiday snaps etc. Have to import them all through a RAW editor and then save them in something like Photoshop.

Probably would be worth finding yourself a copy of Lightroom which can be very handy when managing lots of RAW or any format photo files.

whats wrong with JPEGS? turn the quality up to super-fine and at high resolutions they should turn out alright.
I'd expect the camera was naff, rather than the format

I agree here, i shoot with a DSLR, and i just shoot on superfine JPEG, RAW is far too much bother...

I honestly didnt think it did do raw, but i guess i could be wrong...

yes it was a naff panosonic LS2, i brought after seeking advice here, gutted at the picture quality cranked to max, really was a s**t cam.. glad it went for a swim tbh

i want the option of being able to take raw pics, if im shooting low light, or high detail i want the option to be able to edit the raw image in photoshop..

at the end of the day photoshops going to do a hell of a better job at converting to JPG than a sub £100 camera (or am i wrong)

spend some time with a decent RAW converter and you'll save yourself time over editing JPGs

if you can find one the canon s70 saves in raw format... probably going for a little over 100 now-a-days too

Please, Don't ask for that one 'as a desktop'...its really not worth wasting your time asking, unless you're able to pay £££?
