    Flowers!

Been trying to get into the great outdoors to use my new 400d but the weather is dreadful at the moment so have been stuck with some indoor shots! What do you think? Advice as always gratefully received.

Very nice fella - first one is my fav. Not sure if it's the white background but it is hard to tell if they are sharp or not...but top marks for composition

    Re: Flowers!

Cheers guys. They are not quite sharp enough for my liking. Question for you - what would give a sharper picture, my 17-70mm Sigma lens, or my 70-300mm Sigma APO lens (which I am waiting to be delivered!). Both are Macro lenses, but I don't know which would be better for this kind of work?

Have to say - 2 different forums and 2 completely different sets of opinions. Quite negative at OcUK (their photography section is very active, and quite critical, and the only section I visit), while very positive so far here.

Having not even attempted macro photography yet, I have to say they're very nice personally - though probably too bright/light for a desktop for my monitor.

    Re: Flowers!

Aye I post on both forums to get as many opinions as possible and that always seems to be the way! I have the one with three flowers as my background as the background to it has a slighly pink hue. They are right on ocuk though that the focus isn't quite right.

There's a whole loads of critics I can throw out but that would be intimidating IMO, just exlore, it's meant to be fun anyway. You could get sharper pics by stablising the camera, try to focus more accurately, if the AF is not spot on then use MF, or bracketing, and lastly close the aperture down a bit more

The critics are the only way to learn though, so although they may be intimidating and I may cry myself to sleep tonight, bring them on! Everyone's opinions are subjective, and everyone likes different things, so it is good to get as many opinions as possible I always say.
