    New Canon dSLRs

Amazon have apparently let the cat out of the bag on two new dSLRs from Canon.

The much anticipated 40D and the 1Ds Mark III.

    40D - http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/19/a...anons-eos-40d/
    • 10.1 megapixel, APS-C sized, self-cleaning CMOS sensor
    • 30% faster, 9 point AF
    • DIGIC III image processing
    • ISO 3200 max sensitivity
    • improved 3.0-inch LCD with Enhanced Live View
    • 6.5fps continuous shooting (bursting 75 Large/Fine JPEGs or 17 RAW images)
    • 35-zone metering system

    1Ds Mark III - http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/19/c...thanks-amazon/
    • 21.1 megapixel
    • 36 x 24-millimeter self-cleaning CMOS sensor
    • a pair of DIGIC III image processers operating in parallel
    • improved 45-point advanced autofocus
    • 5fps continuous shooting (for bursts of up to 45 Large/Fine JPEGs or 15 RAW images)
    • 3-inch Live View LCD with 5x or 10x magnification
    • and CF, SD/SDHC

Been looking forward to the 40D, would be a hell of an upgrade from my 350D

Oh no...that's not good. I was just working towards justifying a new lens and got sidetracked looking at the 30D as an upgrade to my 10D, and now there's a 40D?

I think my 10D is only rated for 50,000 exposures, and I'm going to be pushing that soon....

$1300? Lets hope the dollar goes belly up, and that'll be totally affordable by the time I'm in a position to buy...

I guess i don't need to worry about the number of exposures on my 350D then. Only aproaching 6,000 since October 2005.

A 5D would be *really* nice with its full frame sensor, but that would mean getting new wide lenses as mine are EF-S.

There is also speculation of a 5D replacement in the next year too.

I was planning to wait till the shutter actually breaks, rather than panicking about it early.

CPU Temps: Forget MBM, if it don't crash it ain't too hot.

I think the 30D were rated for 100,000 so you're safe for a while

But when that occurs, you won't have a working camera, for however long it takes you to get another. But if I buy one before the 50,000 mark, I'll have a nice shiny new 40D camera for primary use, and an old but still functioning 10D as backup....

And I think you're confusing avarice for panic....

Once the shutter has gone, is it easy enough to have it replaced by Canon, or is the camera pretty much done for?

1dsmkiii...wow, thats some piece of kit...quite unjustifiable right now but hey, maybe in a couple of months!

Please, Don't ask for that one 'as a desktop'...its really not worth wasting your time asking, unless you're able to pay £££?

Should be replacable. Costs could be pretty high though.

had the camera a year and was shooting Duxford Flying Legends and bam, shutter went crazy!

£217.00 and a week later had a new shutter, just in time to do 2 weddings or i'd have been shooting with 1 camera..
