yet another "help me i need camera advice" thread
Right then, i'm stuck :/
I've decided to go for a new compact for the holiday in a few weeks to Gran Canaria, mainly cos a) boy shape would be able to use it b) i don't fancy leaving the SLR in the hotel/having it out at the pool c) it's pocketable for exploring. So, i've been having a wee look around and i think i've narrowed it down to these four. I have about £130-150, but i want something nice and small, but with plenty of functionality and if possible, a manual mode (so i don't feel too restricted without my SLR!) If anyone knows of any others that i could have a swatch at? Help please?! Canon IXUS 70 Sony Cybershot W55 Casio Exilim EX-Z75 Nikon coolpix s200

Re: yet another "help me i need camera advice" thread
You going to buy before you go, or risk being able to get it Duty Free at the airport?
Certainly heard enough about the whole Canon Ixus range being very good the last couple of weeks. Personally I like the Sony, but haven't used one enough to comment. Seen any website reviews? There are usually some good ones who give great comparisons on colour accuracy and stuff like that. Edit : like the black finish Ixus http://www.dpreview.com/news/0702/07...d750sd1000.asp |

Re: yet another "help me i need camera advice" thread
I went into currys today to have a wee look (on my way to the tube) and had a wee look at an IXUS70, i dunno, it was a bit box-like... i found my way around it quite quickly, but i just didnt like the feel of it really... I would have had a look at a few others, but the ONE guy on the desk was talking RUBBISH to customers and trying to sell warranties to them and forcing them to buy the most expensive camera, and it just grated on me, i had to leave.
I really like the look of the exilim and the sony though....

Can't go far wrong with the Canon, they really are superb, I'm a massive fan of the Ixus series.

Re: yet another "help me i need camera advice" thread
it's amazing how prices can vary in a short space of time ... there was 1 place (I think that it was actually Comet) selling the IXUS 70 for £99 last week but no more.
Spent Saturday morning trawling the shops with my niece looking at digicams for her & the 1 that she likes (Panasonic DMC-FX30) has gone up £20 in 2 days ... Did you look at the Fuji F31 as that's supposedly very good in low light? Pentax Optio A30 also looks very nice ~£135 mark abit IP35 Pro, E6600/NH-12F, X1900XT, FSP 700W abit AB9 QuadGT, E6600/SI-120, 7800GT, FSP 600W abit AX78, 5000+ Black Edition/XP-120, 7800GT, Corsair HX520 My HEXUS.trust abit forums |

I have owned a couple of Sony's, one stolen and one currently owned, happy with both, completely. I also have a 2.1 Megapixel Casio, that cost a fecking fortune a long time back, and tbh, still gives a decent pic for a credit card sized camera, but holds no charge at all. According to the reviews the Bobster has posted for you, the Sony does come out on top, and tbh, probably the right choice, and the only niggle is the fact that Sony as always only use their own memory stick which comes at 15 times the price of yer usual SD, MMC, Mini SD and Micro etc etc. Saying that, its still the better camera, and the one i would choose. btw, ye have to make a move back through to Glasgow for a beer, only met you for a few mins really at the meet, mainly cos i was incredibly late and you left really early

on another note, i cant believe there's such a big jump in price between the ixus 70 and the 75, for an extra 1/2" of lcd screen! that appears to be the only difference (other than the not-so-box-like exterior!) I was (and sorta still am) slightly torn between the casio ex77, and the ixus 70, however i think the ixus would be able to handle low light conditions better (despite the casio being prettier!) *le sigh* I just can't seem to get away from the canons! haha, my spare room is going to end up a shrine to all things canon at this rate!
