    Canon lens.

    Right chaps.

Ive currently got a canon 400d with the kit lens 18-55mm, now Im not saying that Ive fully used this lens yet and Ill most likley still be learning with it for a while.

However Ive got an itch to buy a new lens now, this is where you lot come in the type of shots I like taking are of the abstract type like I've seen IBM take in his threads as Im no way at all interested in portrait photos.

Now I was thinking of getting a wideangle lens with a bit more zoom than 55mm so any thoughts or suggestions, or should I just stay with my 18-55mm for the time been.

PS budget would be around the £200 mark, and Ive got most other essetial stuff for photograhy.

    no 28-200

    i wouldn't get a 28-300 its not as sharp as the 28-200

if you want to get something to 300 go for a 70-300

i too am interested in some new lens. i jsyt got my camera a couple of days ago and already abit unimpressed with the stock lens.

    what about these lens's? Amazon.co.uk: Canon EF - Zoom lens - 28 mm - 135 mm - f/3.5-5.6 IS USM - Canon EF: CANON: Electronics & Photo

they are around £400 in argos but in amazon they are dirt cheap and around £250. i know its £50 over your budjet but it may be worth a look

I think the general rule of thumb is avoid places like argos for dslr kit and go to specialist shops that know what there selling.

With my personal experiance with jessops I would avoid them at all costs but there are some people that have had better dealings with them than me but I guess I jsut had bad luck.

See my other thread for details.

    Help.

I think Jessops can vary a lot. The main store in Aberdeen is really good, the guys are really helpful and know their stuff, the techs running the photo lab are also really good.

    Re: Canon lens.

best to just browse forums and read reviews to get the best advice on lens etc. mind you when i was purchasing my canon 400d from curry's they tried to offer me one of those Tamron lens for an extra £70.

when it comes to tech stuff i realy dont like buying stuff recomended by people from the store. i tend to do my research here then make a decison on what to purchase

i think every jessops has someone who is a goldmine of information, but for the most is full of photography students who don't know jack!

    ^ what he said.
they don't know most of the time what they're selling and as a result over-priced beyond belief...just look at their memory prices!
