Adobe Lightroom 2 BETA
As seen on DPReview:
Adobe opens door to second Lightroom: Digital Photography Review Some interesting sounding features, especially the integration with Photoshop. Shots can be selected for panoramas or HDR output in Lightroom itself. It is now very multi-monitor aware, some of the features sound really good. the 10,000 pixel limit has been raised to 30,000 because of the panoramas, which is good, I have some pans that it can't handle already. Re: Adobe Lightroom 2 BETA
So it actually works on 64bit now? 1.3.1 is 32bit only if i remember right.
I'd love to have the space for a proper dual monitor setup. I only just have room for my 24" and a 14" laptop ![]() |

Re: Adobe Lightroom 2 BETA
Sounds like there has been a lot of work done behind the scenes, not a surprise for a product moving from v1 to v2.
Not sure if I'm going to bother trying the Beta, but really looking forward to the final release now, even though I know I'll need to pay for the upgrade... and it is really going to force me into getting CS3 too ![]() |

Re: Adobe Lightroom 2 BETA
Lightroom is a product that is complimented by Photoshop or another editing app, Lightroom doesnt' do everything but its pretty decent for converting RAW to JPG/TIFF
Photoshop has ACR (Adobe Camera RAW) which is the same as Lightroom uses, but has a lot more inside the box than Lightroom... i actually perfer CaptureOne for editing and developing my RAWs |

Re: Adobe Lightroom 2 BETA
i haven't had any trouble with the current version of Lightroom on XP64.. i was just testing out some features that another tog was having trouble with, seeing if i could replicate his problem, but was unable to.. then i saw LR2 was released, so grabbed it to have another look to see what they'd changed
![]() i'll be sticking with C1 |

Re: Adobe Lightroom 2 BETA
That's really interesting, especially the multi-monitor and 64 bit support. I tried Lightroom 1 Beta but decided not to buy as I'm only an amateur and I found it a little fiddly. I'm sticking at the moment with the free and easy to use Picassa 2
until I make the jump to a digital SLR (later this month hopefully).I don't have and can't afford Photoshop. Will Lightroom V2 work without Photoshop OK? |

Re: Adobe Lightroom 2 BETA
yeah Lightroom does a hell of alot of stuff, including basic cloning etc, you can then export as a TIFF, or a JPG and use another application (doesnt have to be photoshop) to do any further tweeks that you want
