    Turkey

Only there for two nights, same as Egypt, so once again limited to just the one city, Istanbul. Incredibly European, I had no idea how utterly westernised the place is. I was expecting something more like Egypt than Lisbon or Barcelona. The only difference is the Islamic influences (loads and loads of mosques) and the tulips (which are native to Turkey, not Holland. Who knew?).

    Criticism appreciated.

Not criticism as such, but you've taken some awesome photos, i love the camel from egypt and the effect in 18 is great!

my only criticism is number 6, i think you've pushed the contrast just a wee bit too much, also there is a lot of white sky... other than that fantastic shots... arabic countries are fascinating to take photos in, i will post some from my trip to morocco soon

I did play with the contrast, but not as much as you'd think. It was an overcast day anyway, so rather than have a nice gray background, I tweaked it until it was white. And I couldn't have cropped much of the sky without loosing the branches and the orange building on the right.

In that case fair play, you did a good job with what you had...

TiG....thanks, I was pleased to get any shots at all as the lighting was really bad....even with a speedlight, I only managed to get half a dozen decent pics all night. The dancers were either moving too fast, or the audience behind was too prominent.

I managed to get one or two pics of the same lady while she stopped dancing in an attempt to supress a fit of the giggles caused by a particularly appreciative group of Korean tourists who would exclaim loudly every time she jiggled her bit....Oooooooooohhhh.....Ahhhhhhhhhhhh....The audience was in stitches....

CMC ...... Not really, I was just too lazy to climb the stairs behind me to get a higher elevation on the building. It was early evening with the sun setting behind the building and I just didn't think I had enough light for anything decent. Should have realised the 5D would produce something clean, even at the high ISO I was using (1600 I think).

The only other thing that I'll say is that IF I was Sigmund Freund, i'd say that you had some what of a tendancy of taking phallic pictures.

Just look for yourself in this light and i think you'll be suprised what your photos say about you

Load of penis....I mean bollocks....I mean crap....

How many Freudians does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

Two. One to screw in the bulb and the other to hold the penis....ladder, I mean ladder

    (Blatently stolen from Dodgy)

All that phallic nonsense, drives me up the wall. The people who build something tall and narrow might have something to say about it, but you put something imposing and striking against a sky, something that's going to look good on a 4x6 print, and I'm going to take a picture of it. Or maybe the people who designed the 35mm format had the photography of the penis in mind when they created those particular dimensions. Who knows?
