You lot have a lot to answer for

    Indeed you do.

After seeing the awesome quality of some of the shots you lot have taken, I am soon to be a member of the nice camera club.

I was looking at getting just a standard one, but I though why pay 200 pounds for a camera I'll replace in a year or 2 when I can pay nearly double that and get a good quality one with better features.

So I've taken the plunge and found this to be what I want from a camera

It's should be here in a few days - thank god I'll be taking some summer shots soon.

Please, Don't ask for that one 'as a desktop'...its really not worth wasting your time asking, unless you're able to pay £££?

    I will - oh I will.

I'm Just about to sort out getting a bucketload of rechargable AA batteries from work and a nice 1 Gb XD memory card or 2 ( or even the acctron 60 Gb MP3 player that supports USB2GO - Ideal portable storage ) and then I'll be out and about snapping piccies of the legendary ORANGE Canal system in Worsley.

This summer weather should get me some nice shots down by the water, and then theres the historical buildings around the area that are going to be brilliant in this sunny weather.

All I really need is a tripod for long exposure shots while messing with the fire poi

I'll say it again: its not the camera!!!

but having one in the first place, yes, does help.

Looks nice lee (haven't read the reviews). BUT- and your gonna kill me for saying this- d50 with kit lens . Think about it..... longer, longer. Ok if u feel strong enough click this link http://www.dixons.co.uk/martprd/stor...&category_oid=

Sorry, just saw that the price was 399.99 on dpreview and well the d50 there, with kit lens, is 15ish quid cheaper. Sorry again

I spent a few hours deciding and looked at the one you've linked to, but liked the idea and concept of the fuji more.

Fair enough mate. Just thought that for not too much more (did a bit of digging on the prices) an slr would be a good choice. Like you say though each to their own.
