    Question Looking at a 400D

Currently looking to purchase a 400D, used a 350D on several all day outings now and really like it.

I have seen the following on Jessops (i know now the cheapest place) but to me seems a good bundle, also with 10% off, even better

Contains EOS 400D body (black) with Canon 18-55mm and Tamron 70-300mm lenses. Also supplied is a Canon gadget bag, Sandisk Extreme III 2GB memory card, and Jessops 300AFD digital compatible flashgun.

What do you guys think about the package, can i get something with the flexability of both lenses for the same or less?

    That lot is £750

    Thanks

    Sandisk Extreme III 2GB - why you'd want this with a 400D i have no idea.. Sandisk Ultra II 2GB = 25.49

    430 EX Speedlite 169.00

    799.00

get the ultra II, saw a report that had one run over by a lorry...still worked. gets my vote!
and NEVER, ever, ever, get memory from Jessops. I get all mine online...for example jessops extreme III 1gb = £80, pretty much everywhere else = £30 at most. thats a mark up of nearly 300%!!! rip off!!

Please, Don't ask for that one 'as a desktop'...its really not worth wasting your time asking, unless you're able to pay £££?

just watch out though as there are an awful lot of fake Sandisk cards around which don't have the same performance.

I've said it before, i like 7dayshop.com for memory cards. There is also svp.co.uk, they are pretty well priced.

thats almost the same bundle i got. you can get the tamron lens for £100 if you search online, use camerapricebuster.co.uk to get the best prices

i don't know of any lens that'd do 17-300mm in one go (but one probably exists at the high end somewhere) - you can maybe get a 17-150 or something - the kit lens (the wider of those 2) isnt brilliant - you might honestly do better to get the body only and the canon 50mm prime to get you started, then move to a zoom lens after a few months once you've got the hang of everything - taking zoom out the equasion helps

I was looking for the same camera and two lenses, and was thinking of waiting until the sales after Xmas, or buy some of it new and some of it second-hand.

But I've been keeping an eye on loads of eBay auctions. I just bought a 350D with kit lens and Sigma APO DG MACRO 70-300mm, plus a bag, remote control, 2x 512MB CF cards, card reader, 2 UV filters, circular polariser and 81b filter for £426 off eBay. The camera is a year old but absolutely immaculate, so are the lenses, everything is boxed as good as new and it appears to have only taken 2,300 photos.

I am SO happy. Nice to have got it at such a good price, and nice to send someone that much money and get exactly what I hoped for in return (well, you do wonder about the risk don't you).

So think about buying on eBay, but be choosy....
