    Christmas Eve Gig

Went to see a local band called Tilted Smile. Took my camera along, just to have a play with some of the settings and see what different things do. Some ones that I am quite pleased with:

    Jack Poxon. Lead vocals/guitar

Ben Edmonds. Drums/Vocals (Hard to get a decent shot)

    Lee Matkin. Bass

    C&C welcome

aye, i *HATE* red lighting at gigs. I insist on blue/yellow lighting when my boyfriends band want photos of their gigs, the photos come out far better, but you can hardly go up to a band that you dont know and ask to have a certain colour of light At the same time, i hate using flash at a gig and would rather not take any photos than use my flash.

Thanks for the hints, still a very early learner with it all

As for the lights, it will be hard to get them to use different colours as you say Plus at that place, its only a local pub, so not a whole range either

Still learning the camera, and couldnt figure out how to use a higher aperture with a fast shutter speed, but, after being dissapointed, read up a bit more and have spoken to people, and have figured it out now, so gotta try it out next gig I got to

Just out of interest, what camera are you using? Probably a damn sight better than mine but anyway...

My Bf's band only play in pubs too, but they take their own lights to the smaller ones so I just swap the red gels for blue or yellow ones Most places with their own lights will have red blue and yellow, it's just a case of taking the gels out of the red ones.

Tbh, I dont think any camera can be worse

    Fuji Finepix S5000

Got it for 50 quid from a mate, just using it now so i can cheaply learn what things do, and see what kind of eye I have.

I've got a finepix s5600, they aren't bad wee cameras, but struggle quite a bit in the dark. I've had a couple of really decent photos, but it's a case of playing about with the settings and reading up on what everything does so you know what you need to change to counteract each problem. It takes a lot of trial and error, but if you can at all avoid it, try really hard not to use your flash
