Maybe you should bump the ISO

yep bounced it, ideally a tripod and long exposure would be my preferred choice.

    Re: Photo-a-day

Not really digging the B+W doesn't seem to add anything to the shot. what's it like in colour?

Shot some Football on Saturday. It's weird that people want those shots like you see in the paper.. well i'm 1 guy and I can't be everywhere at once, they don't seem to get that there's more than 1 photographer covering a professional football match.. but hey ho.

I cant be sure what that is, a Red Kite? have you considered upgrading to a DSLR?

This photo of a Short Eared Owl was heavily cropped at 300mm:

But rather than just a photo of a bird, his shot has a lovely composition. I like it. I can't quite tell if getting more of the sunburst origin in shot would be better or not, depends on the cloud shape I guess.

Thanks, yep it is a red kite! It's a little bit of a fluke shot, I take pictures of those guys all the time but I thought this one worked with the silhouette, clouds, sun. The PP is just the auto adjust on the 808, I usually give it a try, in this case it upped the contrast and gave the sky a slightly deeper blue so I stuck with it. My phone was all I had to hand so i figured I would just see what happens taking a shot of the sky with it in rather than trying to capture the bird itself.

I have considered a dslr, just not quite got round to forking out. I've also considered something like the fz1000, I very nearly bought a Fuji X-S1 a while back.
I have a Panasonic travel-zoom, which I had left at home yesterday as it was charging, generally speaking haven't had much joy with it though. Compared to the Canon one I had a few years back (which died) it usually produces images that seem flat and noisy even in good light, even though on paper it's a better/newer camera with an evf, OIS etc.
