    Question Citreon AX Help

Hi there. I've got a problem with my AX and I'm having trouble figuring out what might be causing it.

It's an electrical problem, and when it occured all the electrics cut out.

There was no ignition and the engine wouldn't turn over. I replaced the battery with a new one, and the alternator was checked and was producing 13amps which is ok.

The cars been lying for a few months, so needed a jump to get the battery charged again. With the jump leads attached, the car started first time and ran ok. I removed the jump leads and the engine kept running ok. After about 5 minutes, I turned off the ignition and then tried starting the engine again but the same problem occured and the engine wouldn't start.

I jumped it again, and it started, but as soon as I removed the negative jump lead the engine died and I couldn't get it to keep running.

Not sure what's causing it. I thought I heard a buzzing from behind the dash when I turned the ignition, and when I pressed the rear window heater button it stopped.

Could there be a short in the switch that's draining the battery? I've tried looking for any dodgy connections to the alternator and the battery etc but they all look ok.

Anyone able to help or point in the direction of hat to check?

cant be 13 amps.... must be 13 volts which isabout right...bit low.

amps should be over 40 i think for little cars engine.

its not charging properly is it?

    is the alternator belt slipping?

    Sorry, meant volts.

I don't think its slipping, although didn't check.

I just thought it was strange that it ran ok the first time I jump started it, but then wouldn't after that. It's as though it held it's charge ok the first time.

When I tried to start it the 2nd time, the battery light would come on but it was very faint compared to normal.

sounds like your battery or alternator is at fault take your battery to be tested first its free at most garages to help you decide which is at fault
