    1992 renault clio fan

The radiator fan, is it temperature driven (so turns on at a certain temp) or is it throttle driven?

If your fan is not cutting in at all it could well be something as simple as a fuse, I'm assuming that is the issue you have at the moment?

yeah, when sat idling it's not doing anything at the mo (and I cant take it out for a drive because it isnt taxed yet). I'll check the fuses out as well, thanks!

It shouldnt need to, assuming its outside and its reasonably cool likely it doesnt need it. The fan on mine doesnt come on at idle unless its very hot outside.

You can just start the engine up and rev it for a fair bit of a time to check the fan is cutting in. But its such a waste of petrol that could be better spent driving it, incidentally enough at high speeds enough air will be passing over the engine for the fan not to turn on. A lot of cars have very effeciant air flow over the engine so the fan will only cut in if your sat in traffic on a hot day for instance.

Yeah I think the fan is knackered. Was stuck in traffic counter clockwise at the dartford crossing (not nice) and had to pull over for a while. I guess it wont be too hard to find a replacement.
