    Peugeot starting problems

Hi Im new to the forum and I would like to say hello to you all.

    first post

I bought a PUG 306 1.4LX 1999 for my wife as a run around, after a week it has developed a fault, its intermittent and only happens once in a while, it takes a while to start and when it does it only fires on two cylinders and you get a smell of un-burnt fuel, I have to turn it of and wait a few mins and then try again and its starts up ok.

is this a sensor fault? any ideas pipe and slippers lol

oooh, Peugeots - I feel in the zone!

this could be a number of things. Check your coil pack and HT leads, and your sparks. If you remove the sparks you may be able to see which cylinders are having the problem. Anyway, it's highly likely to be one of these things from what you've said so far

What engine is it; black or silver top? Single or multiplug ECU?

its an intermittent problem and only happens now and then, The top rocker cover is silver and the ecu plug is single type.

because it's an intermittent problem it makes things more difficult. It'd probably be worth getting a garage to plug it in to their diagnostic computer and the ECU should feed back the relevant error codes.
