    Timing, balance shafts, and clutch...

    .. also exhaust downpipe...

Expensive, but I think Im going to keep this one a while I am not sure if I will attempt to DIY any of this, as both are quite large jobs and I have no holiday left..

Timing and balance shafts: now, Im a little pissed off. The timing chain and balance shaft kit, for a 94+ costs £130... but for my 1992.. it costs £93 + £180!!! atleast on the internets. Im going to the dealer tomorrow to ask about prices... maybe it will be cheaper if I only get the needed parts.

Still Im told that the balance shafts can be easly disabled by removing the chain and blocking off the tensioner hole.
But do I want to do this? in theory it would make the engine viabrate and be a lot noiser, becuase it wont be balanced so well. BUT I will also get upto 10 horseys back.

If the timing is being done.. well that's a great opportunity to stick a new head gasket on.. its only 10 bolts more .

Clutch: Appears almost worn out. The internets suggest that the slave cylinder has upto 12 mm movement before the clutch is gone, i think mines about 10mm from looking down at it. Doesnt look like to bad a job to diy if I had a hiost.. BUT I think I will be wise to get this done.. Ive been quoted £100 labour to do it.

Exhaust: the flexible part was blowing when I got it. I found a good one at the breakers, and the flexible part was GOOD
I had to get a sensor hole wielded on, which damaged the flexi part, so it only lasted 2 months. Currently have a soup can and exhaust clay round it, which is starting to blow quite bad again...
BUT I know it was a speed bump that knocked the soup can last night, because I heard it hit, and then it started blowing.. Stupid speedbumps that only take up the center of a lane
So I think the position of it is hitting the speed bumps, and then I dont really want to get a new one, it will just break again?

Fun but if I do all of this, the car should be a lot more like new.
