draining fuel?
Since I have 40 liters in the saab, I dont want to let it sit too long....
whats the best way to drain it? the haynes book says the pump can do 900cc/30 secs at 3 (THREE!!!) Bar. Thats quite a lot and could make quite a mess if I just used the fuel pump to squirt it into a small tank... Id also prefer not to make fire and as the 5liter tank we were going to squirt it into is plastic.. Im not sure if its a good idea.. as static = sparks = fire. |

Re: draining fuel?
or get 2 lenghts of pipe ( not too thin ) get one of those pumps that attach on the end of a drill and get pumpin
otherwise if u wann a be a cheapskate ![]() fill up a vessel with fuel have it go to your carburator and the have the original fuel pipe pump the fuel into a container |

Re: draining fuel?
Had some fun with this. Spent a good few hours last month and failed quite miserably with the car blocking a friends garage and unable to start.
We towed it up half a steep hill with a greatly underpowered 90horses laguna before rolling it back down infront of somone elses garage.... where it stayed.. 2 weeks later we found the missing vacumme/air hose on the intake and managed to get it started again and put it back in its garage. Where it be now. At which point we hadnt re attached the plastic cover ontop of the fuel pump which also has a nice function of holding the fuel pipes in. Hence they flew out and sprayed about 3 liters of fuel around the boot. Id like to use the pump to get the fuel out however the pump connections wont like being disconnected. If I used the fuel rail Im not sure which end is supply and return and one connector is very ridged - pita to get back on as it requires removing half of the intake components to give it enough freedom of movement... |
