    Peugeot 206cc Fuel Tank Leak

    Hi All,

I have a 2006 Peugeot 206cc and have a serious problem when filling up the car with fuel. If I completely fill the tank fuel gushes out from somewhere underneath the car (seems like it is above the right rear wheel). I live in Qatar and no one here seems able to help, i took it to the dealer and they wanted nearly $2,000 to 'possibly' fix it but wouldn't tell me what was wrong with the vehicle.

Once the fuel has dropped to about 3/4 of a tank there is no further leaking, so I am currently only partially filling the tank to avoid this happening, however, this seems a rather dangerous fault to have petrol leaking from my car!!!!

Could anyone offer any suggestions to what has happened and what I need to fix / replace to sort the problem.

    Thanks for any advice.

corrosion around the join of the fuel tank (they have top and bottom halves), so when the fuel level falls below the join the leaking will stop.

you need a new one, or an ebay one and a friendly mechanic - but i have no idea Quatar is for that kind of thing.

But the fuel tank will be plastic?

I'd go for either a leak at the seal around the sender unit or a loose clip or split pipe between the fillerneck and the tank itself...
