Peugeot 306 staked drive nut size

Sorry for this stupid post, but I am changing gearboxes on a 1996 uk spec 306 xs I am happily stripping out the old unit with the help of my Haynes manual but I have not got a size for the drive nut. Its bigger than all the ones in my box and I dont want to buy a big set just to get the correct one.

    Thanks folks

You mean the Drive shaft nuts on the hubs? Just buy a single socket to fit, it doesn't need to be an expensive one, around £10, but you'll need to find out the size and I'd make sure your torque wrench is up to it and find your self a 6' aluminuim breakers bar (tube actually) to give you the leverage much easier.

Not sure who'd sell single sockets these days but you'll have a specialist parts supplier who sells tools probably, but they will likely be sykes pickavant etc so not cheap.

Have fun. (Oh you wanted the size didn't you, dunno, but at a guess 42mm.)

    MM
