Rover 200 back seat help!

Hi

I'll start off by saying I don't have the user manual.

Ok, I put my hack seats down using the catches on tha back of the seat in the boot. All good so far.

So, now I want to put the seats back up. The single seat goes up fine. the ****** of the 2 won't go back up though. The seatbelt that is for the middle back is stopping the seat from going back up (if you've got a Rover 200 you'll know what I mean). The seatbelt just clicks if I try to pull anymore of it out so I can get it back up. So at the moment, the seat is stuck down. Onthursday I'm going to have a car full so I really need to get this sorted.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe somewhere I can find a manual on the net?

Ha I did that when I first got mine...

you can either take a cover off the reel easily to then allow it to be pulled out, or you can see it now, or you can unscrew the reel entirely which allows you to move it forward to pull it back! I can't remember which though!!

I THINK I had to unscrew something to get at the lever to allow you to unwind the damn thing...it baffled me for a couple of minutes then I figured it out, IIRC...have a poke with a screwdriver and see where it gets you! And remember to pull the plastic bit through the cover thing after so it can't happen again!!

Thanks, I'll give that a go tomorrow! So I'll have to do this each time i want to put my seats down (if the little plastic stoppy thing goes through)?

Well...once I pulled mine through it didn't go BACK through again. If yours is broken...get another from a breakers?

Right, so I tookt he reel off and got the seat back up. But no more belt will come out of the reel. There's a couple of hexaganol screws in the side of the reel, looks like they hold the side cover on. Going to set a set of allan keys this morning and I'll see if I can take that off and have a fiddle.

I've been told it's an NR40 Torq bit...is that right?

They are Torx heads so you will need some Torx bits for a socket set or screw driver. Designed to be harder to tamper with, but are widely available and cheap

Put your foot on it and pull the belt as tight as you can, then get the reel at the same angle as it would be fitted to the seat in ther upright position, it has a tumbler system so it locks at any other angle (iE Upsidedown). Then you should be able to pull out some belt to re fit. sometimes if the belt all goes back onto the reel it jams up and the only way is to pull it hard to egt it to come free.
