    Recommend me something new?

    Hi All,
Just complete Uncharted - finished Uncharted 2 a few months ago. I don't really like FPS on console. I also liked Ninja Gaiden. I've got Prototype and find it a bit meh, and am currently working my way through Dante's Inferno.

I got God of War 3, but having not played the first 2, I'm not overwhelmed.

    Recommend me something new.....

    Re: Recommend me something new?

Batman Arkham Asylum if you like 3rd person type stuff, absolutely fantastic game

Demons Souls is another PS3 exclusive that will test your mettle, hard to master and put down, once again 3rd person RPG type game. If you get easily frustrated by games make sure you watch a few vids before buying this game so you know what you are in for. You need patience to crack it. It is absolutely amazing though, at times I was shouting at it when in all honesty I was rushing to get back to my corpse and souls and making rookie type mistakes. There is a great wiki up for it which is a good reference point while playing.

Borderlands, I'm not a fan of FPS on consoles either but this is an exception, its bloody brilliant. It just plays so well and the controls are a dream, this one I have lost so many hours to since its release. Also bought a few of the DLC's for it which I dont usually bother with unless they are exceptionally cheap, Zombie Island and General Knox I bought which are excellent, there is also an arena one (Mad Moxie Underdome Riot) which isnt supposed to be very good and Claptraps Robot Revolution which was getting mixed reviews so didnt pick it up.

Shadows of the Damned, similar play style to Resi 4. 3rd person action adventure, its quite weird but really good. You have to go into hell and find your girlfriend offing the various denizens on the way. Few puzzles to do which dont really task you to much, its more of a shooter. It looks great (Runs on UE3) and some of the characters are very memorable, some of the bosses on it are also pretty cool and bigger than your TV screen.

Outland, now I'm not one to really get indie games usually, however this is an absolute gem. The visual style the music, it all just comes together nicely. You can get the demo of PSN and if you like it buy the unlock for it. The demo actually gives a good feel for the game. Its a side scrolling platformer and you have light and dark sides to your being, use this to your advantage navigating your way around the map. Its literally just REALLY good.

Alice Madness Returns, now I liked the origional Alice game when that came out so this one was a must buy for me. 3rd person action game basically set in Wonderland. Its dark and twisted at times and in another breath can be extremely colorful. Weird and wonderful denizens of the land all gel this together coherently, the art and sound are absolutely superb.

    Re: Recommend me something new?

I'd recommend Infamous. Recently picked up both on a whim, after enjoying Crackdown on the 360 and it's the first game I've really loved in a while. Yeah it's a bit cheesy story wise, but it's a lot of fun and arguably more interesting that Crackdown, although it feels a tad more linear. It's a great third-person-er, and as someone who also doesn't like FPS I can recommend it highly.
And I second Ferral, Outland is a gem :-)

I got God of War 3, but having not played the first 2, I'm not overwhelmed.
Arguably the second is the best, the sheer scale of the game running on PS2 hardware is immense. It also feels very well paced, something which GOW3 lacked.

    Re: Recommend me something new?

If you haven't played Red Dead Redemption yet play that. I didn't think I'd like it and wasn't going to play it until a mate lent me a copy and I ended up 100% everything. It's my fav game of the recent past.

Also if you haven't played Batman Arkham Asylum it's awesome. I'm not a comic book guy but I really enjoyed it.

    +1 Batman AA.

Plus you really want to play it before Arkham City....

Red Faction: Armageddon is very fun to play as well.

    Go retro..

Get yourself down the local second hand games shop and see what PS1 classics they have. Should be so cheap, it's almost embarrassing.

Have you done the Assassins Creed series? I've spent the last few months going through all of them, they're a good series. My fave's still the second one though...

+1 LuckyGiant I missed on a lot of amazing retro games that I have only played this last year. Also if you haven't already played Resident Evil 5 give it a go!

Some games stand the test of time. Recently I'd replayed GT1/GT2 and Parasite Eve 1/2.

All worthy of any gamer's time.

You should try skyrim - just finished the main quest line and the game really does pull you in. Lots of different play styles are catered for too.

    Re: Recommend me something new?

Try La Noire. The gameplay is new and refreshing and the sound is just amazing. I can listen to people's shoes in the game and feel relaxed lol. However the main character dies in the end after saving his bestfriend and girlfriend from the corrupt police, but the corrupt government wins nevertheless. Hence the word, "Noire".

    Re: Recommend me something new?

^ nice one on letting people what happens who may not have played it!

I would also recommend La Noire, Darksiders II has just been released which has had rave reveiws and i know you said you're not fond of shooters, but having just finished Max Payne 3 I highly recommend that
Im moving on to Batman Arkham city next which again is meant to be very good.
