    My PS VIta Impressions

    Hi all. Welcome,

I had a go on the vita yesterday at GAME for about 5-10mins and here is a nutshell of my initial impressions playing uncharted and some augmented reality fighting game

    Pros:
    • Build quality is top notch
    • analogue sticks are great
    • Screen is as good as an ipone 4s/samsung galaxy Nexus
    • Uncharted graphics are almost on par with a ps3 game
    • Augment reality game i played(a fighting game where u can slap you face on) worked well. good ps3-like graphics
    • Dpad and Buttons are very similar to the PSP and i have an original PSP and the buttons still work .
    • Very light! Nearly as light as my Samsung galaxy nexus phone!

    • Sound from the speakers is a bit weak but better then the psp
    • A bit "thick" so may have trouble fitting in your jeans pocket
    • Load times on unchated took about 30seconds and it was from a downloaded version of it, not from the memory card so i expect it to load instantly like when u have a psp game installed on the psp itself, not run from the UMD
    • UI is better then the PSP but a bit childist/nintendoish(i woudl much prefer a Android UI.l Like Android honeycomb at least)

Dont forget. these are from early 5min impressions of the device, Some of the pros and cons can easily change if i had a weeks use with the Vita but from my own points above, the most important things about the device are in my plus points i.e build quality and game graphics quality

Negative points are not too bad at all and positives sound good to me,

I want one but afraid the price is too high just now

    Re: My PS VIta Impressions

I've been looking forward to the release of this for a while, but now I think I'm going to hold off, a lot of people are reporting it's fairly thick and there was a rumour a slim model is already in the works. It would also be nice to see how much backing it gets from devs.

i don't own one of those sadly I don't know, i won't hold it against it off one viewing - although i didn't really know what I expected from it. It looked sharp, don't get me wrong, but colour wise it just seemed fairly standard, at least not massively different from the 3DS?

    Re: My PS VIta Impressions

I have tried the Vita and I quite like it. I liked the augmented fighting game I was told by one of the salespeople at the event that if you play it at the top of a building the fighters are scaled up and if you have the original UMDs from the old PSP you can download them for free on the Vita

    Re: My PS VIta Impressions

From my own impression after owning it since release day: It is really nice to use. The game I play the most now is Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. My nephew has the 3DS and it seems much more vivid than the 3DS. I'm not too sure about making it thinner as it is a really nice size to use (for me). I used to play Army Corpse of Hell a lot, which is really fun. I just happened to get into UMVC3 at the wrong time. At the moment I just have UMVC3, Ridge Racer and Army Corpse of Hell, but I'm looking at buying more games. It is a really fun system. The battery life isn't great but it is easily managable. I just don't like the two cameras. That is where Sony really fudged it. It could have been super with a decent camera front and back. Personally, I don't think the graphics are PS3 standard. Somewhere between PS2 and PS3, but then the resolution is lower than the PS3...

When FFX-HD launches it will be system seller for the Vita IMO.

    Re: My PS VIta Impressions

I tried one off Amazon , too much on the old hands and found myself bit bored after a few hours ( i played uncharted )

Thoughts : Nice screen , cosmetics , touch screen ( light yrs better than3ds )

Cons: Price, No unique or appealing games , thumb sticks too short

    Re: My PS VIta Impressions

Thanks for the impressions and opinions.

Since getting my vita I'd recommend:

    Motorstorm RC
    Uncharted
    Super Star Dust
Fifa (although Fifa 13 is released soon)
    Rayman
    Unit 13

I've also completed Resistance Burning skies but find that difficult to recommend as it was complete within 5 hours (with breaks as well).

I really like the slick UI and the battery seems to be exceeding 5 hours too which I'm quite impressed with.

Come towards the end of the year with Assassins creed 3: Liberation, Need for speed Most wanted and Black Ops declassified + more the vita is starting to build a decent line up.
I'll have to see more of Black Ops before a purchase as its coming from the guys behind Resistance so hoping its not just a re-skin of that.

Liking the cross buy feature too (buy on PS3, get Vita version free). Be good to see afew third party devs take this on board
