    PSU longevity? (HX1000)

I'm in the process of building a new PC and as it'll inevitably be quite expensive I'm looking at everything to see where I can pinch a penny or two. The new machine will have two PSUs and the plan is, or was, to pick up a HX1050W and a HX650W. However, my current machine has a HX1000, which is now around 3.5 years old, and I'm wondering if I should move it to the new build and save myself the cost of either the HX1050W or HX650W.

So my question is: how long can a top quality PSU like the HX1000 be expected to last and to perform?

Years & years, my Seasonic S12 650w is at least 7 years old I think and still going strong so I would definietly reuse the one you already have. My question would be, why do you need 2?

    Re: PSU longevity? (HX1000)

Thanks for the input mate. I probably will move it over and save some money. I've never had and used a PSU longer than this one, so I just thought I'd get some opinions really. I also thought back to leaking caps and such, but then again I guess those are thing of the past as long as I buy quality parts.

The reason I'll be using two is partly that I'll end up with around 20 hard drives and 10 fans (not counting the CPU cooler). With two PSUs I'll be able to minimise the number of adapters and crap I need to use, making the tidying up much easier. The build as it stands will also draw pretty close to a kilowatt under full load (in a theoretical worst case scenario), leaving me with no room for upgrades such as a second video card if I should want one.
