    AX750 - High Pitched Noise.

I've got a very quiet system and recently I have started to hear a faint but high pitched noise that's coming from my AX750, the noise is extremely offensive to the ears and has been driving me nuts.

While the PSU seems to still be functioning, I don't know if this noise is an indication of a fault and I don't have the means to test it. I am unsure if this is even something you'd be able to diagnose as it's fairly faint as I said, there has been another issue/symptom that has occurred at the same time as this, it doesn't happen every time but when the system is shut down and powered off at the wall, it will "squeal", by that I mean a high pitched noise will emit from the power supply and this will continue to get higher and higher in pitch until after about 10 seconds when it stops.

I ran the system with just the CPU, RAM, Sound card and an SSD connected, I booted into windows and recorded some footage. There are no fans running, it sounds like there are fans going off but the room is almost silent, maybe this is a "feature" of the mobile phone or maybe it's caused by this noise, what you want to listen for is that high pitched whine/squeal which I think you can hear.

This might require headphone users and you'll probably have to turn the windows volume up to 100%, the only time I say something is around 12 seconds from the end of video 2, so no fear of ear drum blow out if you crank that dial up to 11.

I've uploaded the videos to YouTube, I'd appreciate it if you could have a listen and tell me if I have gone insane or I should get diagnosed with tinnitus.

Video 1 - Just the PSU noise, no talking involved - http://youtu.be/rTZuMY5Jf_8

Video 2 - At 1:20 I speak so you may want to be prepared if your volume is turned up - http://youtu.be/F-qQiHEqHp4

This would be the second AX750 I'd have to return, unlucky perhaps, but I am not particularly confident in this series of PSU's now.

It's coil whine. Nothing serious. Just in case though, take it to an engineer for an inspection.

Coil whine never heard that term before i do associate noisy PSU problems commonly a fan bearing failing or a capacitor is failing dont wait for the big bang and risk taking your mobo out and maybe more RMA the unit if it is still in warranty

Re: AX750 - High Pitched Noise.

Coil whine very common on AX range of PSU's from Corsair. They will actually fix/replace under their RMA. But most people complain it comes back after a while on new units.

I have had it on two AX units, both have gone on to develop power faults.

TooTay - If you have not sorted this issue out, what I would suggest is submit a ticket regarding this issue @ Corsair.Force.com and we will be more than happy to get that unit replaced for you.
