    Laptop for Architecture (K100)

I was wondering what sort of laptops you would recommend to use during my time at uni. I currently own a desktop PC with an i5-6600k processor and I will buy the RX 480 once the aftermarket versions are out. This does therefore mean that the laptop does not have to be ultra-high spec since I can do most renderings on my desktop. I'd want to spend up to around £500. I have looked at buying a second-hand MacBook Pro or the Dell XPS 13. I'd pretty much just want something that has nice aesthetics, is portable and fairly cheap.

    Thanks

    Re: Laptop for Architecture (K100)

Get an MS Surface Pro – best piece of tech equipment I've ever bought. x86-64 Windows so it handles everything you'd need from a laptop and any particularly heavy lifting you can always run on (or stream from) your desktop.

Mine got me through my final years of uni (CS student) and it's been my daily driver at work – in the office and remote access – for almost 3 years now; it's the perfect setup, as far as I'm concerned. It's also replaced my laptop for DJing because it's so convenient. It fits in a normal backpack, so it's incredibly easy to carry around. Couldn't be happier with it.

Studying architecture, I imagine being able to draw quick sketches on it would be incredibly handy too. If you think you might use it for that, I'd recommend the SP3 or newer as they upgraded the stylus significantly from what I understand.

I used to use it in 'tablet mode' for web browsing & streaming videos (before I got my Moto X Force), it was great for that too.
