Everybody's favourite functional programming language, Haskell, has a new version "2010".

Thoughts?

I programmed some Haskell back at Uni, but only trivial stuff, so can't really comment.

I personally absolutely hated learning haskell (98)..I guess my teacher didn't help (he was really pretty awful), but I didn't find it fun to use, particularly with respect to the syntax of the language. To me it was rather old fashioned, and had limited uses..heck I even preferred LISP to haskell then! (but hey, lists are cool!)

I have started playing a little with F# recently though, which does bear some resemblence in its syntax but is much more logical to me (even sticking with the functional paradigm and ignoring the O-O possibilities), and I am more comfortable with it due to the ability to access all the standard .NET libraries.

I might have a looksee at haskell 2010 though and see what has changed..bit of a trip down memory lane if nothing else

I'm not familiar with Haskell but learnt SML at Uni - which I liked. Functional programming does seem to be enjoying some acceptance in the real world now (I work in a bank and we have Haskell, a proprietary functional language in use, and F# under consideration). I might take a look at this...
