Could anyone make me a patch to get Avid Studio working on Windows 8.1?

I have no idea how difficult something like this would be. But I would love to get Avid Studio working on Windows 8.1 x64 if anyone could make a patch for it? It's no longer supported. So Windows 7 is the latest it will run on. I'd rather not have a dual OS booting scenario if I can help it. I would be happy to donate a little bit of money to someone who can make me a patch, if this forum permits it. Thanks

Its not a piece of software im familiar with tbh, but being more specific about the problem might be useful.

Does it not install? just doesnt run? crashes during use?

Is it a 32bit only program, with drivers, or something?

    What about compatibility mode?

If it's a low level issue, then someone would probably need the source code to do anything decent, patch wise.

    However: https://www.facebook.com/PinnacleSys...25101887541240
That seems to hint at a way to get it working. Fire them a message?

It complains about the OS being updated when installing. But it still installs. When you try to run it, it says the same thing. It also says that it may not function properly, so a reinstall is recommended. It's a 32bit app. But it runs just fine on W7 X64 But after the warning message, it doesn't even launch :/ Thanks!

I tried running every single installer file in W7 compatability mode. And of course, the program exe itself. But no luck :/ I was just about to link to something similar: http://corel.force.com/pinnacle/arti...FKBLandingPage
I have tried the Pinnacle 16 patch already. But it won't install (even though Avid studio is pretty much identical to Pinnacle 16 as far as I understand). I wasn't sure if there was a way of modifying the Pinnacle 16 patch. But I was hesitant to suggest it as I wasn't sure if that's an ok thing to do or not.. But, thanks for that link! It looks like they might have a work around from that post there. I've messaged them to ask for it. Hopefully they'll get back to me on that Thanks!

It might be that the only way forward now would be to buy the upgrade version. Avid sold the video editing arm of the company to Corel and Corel are not supporting versions of the software that they were not directly involved in.

Without a patch, my way forward is to dual boot with Windows 7 It'll be some hassle. But I don't want to buy an upgrade when I can do what I want with the program I already have. I'm pretty sure Avid Studio only came out in 2011. It's a bit lame there isn't a W8 patch for it

Re: Could anyone make me a patch to get Avid Studio working on Windows 8.1?

Have you considered running it in Virtual Box or VMware Player?

If youre considering dual booting, a VM might be easier, and both are capable of running the application as if its on the host OS.

Yeh that's another option. But the dual boot would be better as my laptop isn't all that powerful. Though the VM would be more convenient, if it worked good enough. But I'm not really looking for these kind of work arounds. I'm just hoping to get it working on Windows 8. Thanks
