Re: Project: Hello Kitty Wow, that is completely awesome. When I have my own kids I might end up doing something like this. Although doing this for a son will be insanely hard as they'd probably want lasers and sounds with their pcs haha. I can't wait for the finished project, (well I'm not really into hello kitty but this is awesome I admit) Although I'm not too sure I'd want my kids hooked on pcs all day though haha. But I guess it's better than them turning a yob/chav lol. Looks like the pc is almost complete, what's the ETA for this project to be finished? I wanna see everything together

I expect to get it finished by early next week, assuming I won't run into any problems. Btw, I have a son too. He's 5 and really into sharks and Transformers - that could an interesting mod I guess I'll wait few years till he's old enough and learns to use a computer first. I'm not sure what these kids will want to do when they grow up, but I figured, if at least one ends up looking at the high-tech industry, might as well give them a head start. We live not too far from a number of software companies, including Microsoft and Adobe, so there's a possibility. |

Re: Project: Hello Kitty OK, some additional details. There's that empty square space for a logo above the power switch - decided to use it. This was printed on a high quality photo paper - 1 inch square in size. I mixed up some of the clear finish, this time about 50/50 clearcoat and hardener. Then, I poured the mixture slowly directly over the square piece, letting it run over the edges. As you can see it's solidifying nicely to form a domed badge. I imagine you could do something similar with epoxy that dries clear and colorless. It's all about fluid dynamics Last edited by Epyon777; 01-11-2009 at 05:16 AM..

Re: Project: Hello Kitty Nice one ![]() I've been wondering how to make a case badge. What sort of consistancy does the liquid need? What's the drying time on this 50/50 mix you used? aka the bargin-bucket-build Is now FINISHED

Re: Project: Hello Kitty Thanks! The consistency is a bit thicker than water, but not really by that much. It has a higher surface tension, so it builds up nicely, but because it's not very heavy, you can continue to slowly pour your mixture until all of the tiny air bubbles are gone from the badge. I left it to dry overnight, so I'm not sure what the minimal drying time is vs. when it's mixed for spraying.
