HX 620 + Asus P5B Deluxe mobo - Use 4-pin or 8-pin 12V connector ?
By default, my Asus P5B Deluxe mobo had a cap over 4 of the pins on the 12V connection, leaving 4 pins pins exposed. The HX 620 has both a 4 pin and an 8 pin 12V connector, so is it better to use the 8-pin connector or the 4-pin connector, or does it not make any difference ?
I would guess the 8-pin is better as the power is spread over 8 pins instead of 4. |

You need to ask ASUS about that. I would suspect that they put the cover there for a reason.

The manual says either 4 or 8 pin is OK. They put the cover there so the user knows the correct pins to connect to if using only 4 pins.
I connected to 8-pins and everything is working great. |

I've got the same sort of thing... Got a cap over one half of the power socket on my mobo. But from my powersupply I've got 2 x 4 pin adapters.. Aint got no 8pin adapter. Can i just double the connectors up and plug them in?
Or is this a bad idea? |

If you have an HX620, you DO have an 8 pin connector. It is one of the hard wired connectors next to the 24 pin main ATX cable. DO NOT try to force the 2 x 4 pin connectors.
