    Alternative PSU cables?

    Hello,

Just purchased a 520 after reading all the reviews and so far so good. I do have one minor quibble. The actual modular cables that come with the PS are pretty lame when compared to the other PSU's I've purchased. For my other PC I bought a Mushkin 580w PSU a few months ago and while yes I know that its not in the same class as the Corsair the Mushkin's cables were all round and sleeved. Looked great.

My question is if I don't want to use the OEM cables does anyone know which cables will work with the 520?

    Thank you

The plug that goes onto the PSU side for each cable appears to be unique (I have the 520 as well) but to say the cable quality is lame is a little harsh I'd say! I've had the Enermax Liberty and Hiper Type-R series and I rate the cable quality of the HX quite highly! it's like a flat ribbon cable and easy to tuck behind a piece of case panel because of this ow profile. it's also quite hard to damage, the sheath appears to be quite thick and protective of the cable inside.

You could always contact Corsair and see if they have an alternative, I heard good things about them sending replacement and extra cables to people who requested them.

I don't know of any other cables available that will work on our units.

Well I do have to say that after installing this I came to appreciate the flatness of the cables. My first impression was just that they seemed pretty flimsy. Several of the other PSU's that I ordered had what I would call (IHMO) better looking cables that at least gave the impression of higher quality (thick, rounded/flat sleeved, etc...).

In the end the cables were fine and were indeed nice and easy to keep out of the way.

We definitely did not skimp on the cables. I also like them being flat so that you can run them easily under the MOBO to hide. Especially in small cases.
