    750w & 850w coming soon?

just found this on at http://www.tcmagazine.com/comments.p...=15982&catid=2

After releasing a pair of low-power but efficient power supplies, Flash Survivor designer Corsair is finally ready to move on and unleash some more powerful units. This autumn Corsair is set to release two new PSUs, one that will provide 750W and one rated at 850W.

While the 850W model still requires a little work, the 750W one is ready to roll and will be soon released to again prove Corsair's expertise. Both PSUs are expected to be modular but it's not yet clear if they will be part of the HX series.
    Looking forward to the release.

Actually, those wattage ratings are not correct. In addition to the VX450, we'll have a VX550 which is due out any day now.

We also have a completely new line featuring 2 new PSUs. It is called the TX series. I am not sure how much I am allowed to say just yet but, I think they will be released before the end of September. At this point, there is no 850w due for release. We have a 650w and a 750w.

thanks for clearing that up for us Yellowbeard I have a feeling these are non modular, why else would you release a psu 30w more than a 620 HX.

Too much of an overkill for most users (even enthusiasts) imo. The only people who may want this are those with high end systems (i mean the top 10% - 15%) real wattage eaters (quad, dual gpu and loads of extras and that includes christmas lights dangling all over the case!)

Ideally, you want a PSU operating at about 60%-70% of it's maximum rating as they are typically most efficient at that point. So use the example of a 750w PSU at 65% which is 487.5 watts. Under load, a 2900 Crossfire system will use about 350w to 400w by itself.

Looks nice, will they be from the same source as the previous PSUs?

Yeah, I noticed you've teamed up with CWT for PSUs. Well, TT Toughpower owners seem happy enough with their units. Your 5-year warranty still applies of course? (silly question)

Of course. We would not have decided to go with CWT if they did not meet our requirement for QC etc.

    Re: 750w & 850w coming soon?

I'm loving my hx620w, and i've been using the 520w variant in quite a few client builds, this is definately going to be replaced by the VX450.

Anyway, isn't the hx620w only rated 620w because corsair were being conservative? can't it handle something like 750w of load at peak? They can certainly cope with sli'd Ultras/oc quad/4gig ram/4 hdd's/12 fans/2 optical/1 pump, because i have tried it... and the fan didn't even spin up and make any more noise... it's pretty much the only psu i have used that i could put into the 'exceptionally good' catagory..

    *insert something whitty here*

So what does the 650w TX model have over the 620W HX. 30w aint enough to say no to "modularity"

It should cost a good deal less than the HX series CPU.
