Corsair TX650W mini review and some feedback

Just installed this PSU today... Since there is only 1 review of this on the net, I thought it would be nice to have something else slightly useful coming up in a google search

Nice box:

Anyone know what the bag is for? I am currently using it to store sweets.

Seem good to me

Here it is installed:

The good:
-Volts are great
-Its completely silent
-Plenty of sata/molex connectors
-Even though its not modular its very tidy
-5 year warranty

The bad:
-I had to snip off clip on the PCI-E connectors to get them into my 9800gtx (my Xclio PCI-E connector fit in fine). Fortunately this doesn't void my warranty
-Only 2 PCI-E connectors, so if I choose to SLi them down the line, I will have to use molex adapters

The ugly:
-The 8 pin power cable for the motherboard is 1cm too short (when fully stretched) to go around the back of the motherboard panel (my Xclio PSU was just about long enough)
-Yes I suck with cameras

That one cable is real ugly dude can't you get an extendor or something.. I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight now

turn the psu upside down, should be able to do it. It's how I got my PSU and it reaches okay

Aez suggested this to me earlier... but there is only about half a cm space under it... surely the air flow will be crap with it upside down, well upside up if we are being pedantic...

the air will still be sucked in. it's not the best of gaps but it won't break the psu either.

Is there no airflow heading towards the PSU? That would pretty much give the PSU all it needs to run quiet and cool I should think. Plus the other way round it will not be sucking in the hot air from around the gfx card.. maybe lol

mine doesn't seem to be shooting hot air out the back so it seems to work fine.

Why not just pay £5 max for extension cable you can buy Akasa one which looks the same as the corsair cable.

I just purchased one of these psu it's really good only thing I don't like is it's not modular which I know I could of chose another model for that but having to pay an extra £30 for that feature is a bit pricey.

Got an Akasa one from cclonline already for £4 delivered
Corsair/Yellowbeard if you read this, please ask your colleagues to add 2 inches onto the length of this cable in future PSUs...

I had the same problem with my TX650, the 8 pin cable was a few inches too short. My solution; route it under the expansion cards

True but there is a lot of people who don't like the cable showing like that they prefer it out the back then come forward so you don't see it.

I've just this minute bought one of these as my current PSU appears to have given up on me after a good 4 years of service and abuse.

I had the same issue with my CM690 and HX620, the 8pin CPU socket was some length away from the cable hole, it would reach, but i didn't want to stretch it so hard.

bought an Akasa 8pin extender cable
