Will this Antec PSU be ok for new build?

    Hi,

I'm putting together a computer for a relative whose old Athlon PC has given up the ghost.

I'm trying to salvage as much as possible, and the old system has an Antec Truepower 380 PSU from a Sonata case.

Could anyone please tell me if this would power a new system comprising of:

    Intel Core i3-2120 3.30GHz LGA1155 3MB
    Asus P8H77-V LE motherboard
    8GB Corsair Memory XMS3 DDR3 1333 Mhz
    1TB WD Caviar Blue drive
    1 x DVD-RW drive

The system would just be run using on-board graphics, and wouldn't be overclocked.

    Many thanks.

Yep no problem - your new rig will probably be using quite a bit less power than your old one.

This is pretty good for working out what you need PSU wise.

Those components will probably use around 50W idle and no more than 150W peak usage.

Re: Will this Antec PSU be ok for new build?

    Thanks for the advice folks.

Just as an update, it turns out the power supply is both Antec and antique. There's a lack of power connectors to power a new board with only a 20 pin connector for the motherboard supply.

I think I'll get them to get a new supply - no worries with duff capacitors or anything I guess.
