Upgrading components, will i need a psu?

Hi all,
Currently have the following:
q6600 OC'd at 3.6ghz, 4gb ram, HD7950 OC'd, 1 dvd drive, 1ssd drive, 2hdd's and a few 120mm fans. And all this is powered by the old classic corsair hx620.

Planning on upgrading to
i7 4790k, 8gb ram, (keeping the gpu) and a new mobo etc, but i just wanted peoples opinion on whether i need to upgrade the PSU as well?
I've checked on psu calculator and it all seems ok, but just looking for some reassurance!

Nope, it's fine. Power draw may actually be less.

If it's useful, I bought a HX520W back in May 2008. It failed, due to bulging capacitors, a few years later. It was used 24/7 in my main desktop PC.

I suggest shining a torch inside, to try and see the tops of the capacitors. Alternatively, at least check the outputs with a multimeter, but just voltage is not an indicator that it can actually output the required wattage.

I don't know if your HX620 is from the same series, or if it has the same components.

As this is long out of warranty, they you don't need to poke about with a torch, just get a screw driver and open it up.
It's unlikely the big primary cap has gone but some of the smaller secondary caps might of.

im using the same psu for a new i5 build from a q9550, will have a look for these bulging caps, never even thought of doing such a thing

If you see any bulging caps, just throw it away. I remember taking my HX620 to bits, and getting really p*ssed off at being unable to do anything with the caps because the heatsink was bolted on in a ridiculous and permanent way.

Now why would they do such a thing (the bolting I mean and I understand the cooling requirements but bolting, really)?
