    Best Digital PVR

    Guys,

I've had enough of missing TV - I don't want a subscription based model - such as Sky+

However, what's the best one on the market - I want to record freeview, and well freesat if there is a sensible option.

I don't want something which is a 'project' to maintain - I want to turn it on and use it....

Here is one which was recommended to me earlier : http://www.sony.co.uk/product/dvd-recorder/rdr-hxd1095

Humax have a Freesat HD PVR out, that will probably be the best

Or another Humax as a non hd/freeview model

The one you showed was £450 in my local sony store....

As you like the new kit DR, how about the BlueRay recorder from Panasonic?

Pricey, but a featureset second to none...

That is still £60 more than the Humax Freesat HD recorder, is recording to DVD a high priority? Especially when you can pick up a cheap bluray player around that price if upscaled films are that important

You won't get a HD signal through the Sony though

    Re: Best Digital PVR

If it's not too late, have a look at the Topfield 5800 or 5810 (about £215).

It'll only do Freeview not freesat. What I love the most about it is that you can install alternative EPGs and user interfaces - the free MyStuff (which you just download, connect the PVR to your PC with USB, and run an ordinary Windows installer) makes it pretty much perfect for me.
