    DVD recorder

My wonderful (*ahem*) sister is looking for a standalone DVD recorder that she can use to record terrestrial & Freeview broadcasts via SCART.

She is edpacially looking for one that will write on ultra-cheap un-brenaded DVDs such as the ones you buy from Amazon for 13p each & seem to change brand each time you buy them.

Also as the family has never owned such a device before, none of us know of whether there is an equivalent of 'multisession' - i.e. if she records one 20 minute episode, can she then record more after it on the same disk, or is it closed forever?

An added bonus would be if the unit recorded reliably to cheap re-writable disks too!

Something that can be bought either on the high-street or on Scan, Ebuyer, or Amazon.

PS - she's not overly bothered about paying extra for a hard drive.

several months ago a grabbed an Alba DVDR player from sainsbury's for £70, it recorded on non-branded DVDRWs and was multisession. It simply created a standard video_ts folder and a basic menu for each recorded item so u could even edit them on a PC. I have since moved to Sky+ and to be honest the player sat under my TV for 6 months never being used apart from when I first got it
