Or more to the point. Since when do you have to be an expert to see that someone is turning into a fat <bleep>

Its a case of advancement in technology, transport and food. Me old man was saying we didnt have computer games or tvs back in his days, so kids were always outdoors playing exercising alot, on the weekends all the kids were booted out the house to go and play. And people were mostly eating vegitables and meat, nowadays its pizza, chips, chisps, chocolate, cakes etc etc, he said we might have a had few fatty foods now and then but he said we were outdoors playing again so we mostly burnt all the fat off etc and not only that but transport back then was a luxury, you had to walk to school even if it was 10 miles away and back again, now kids get picked up by their mums. In school there was more PT everyone had to run like 5 miles alround the fields.

He said completly understandble why people are getting fat they are just getting lazy dependant on transport to get them to and from places, not getting out enough riding a bike or walking places but would rather sit indoors watching the TV or playing Video Games.

...and yet, I had a pizza for lunch yesterday, a MacDonalds for tea before the game, 2 boiled eggs for supper and regularly play video games.
How is it that I'm not turning obese?

You seem to think that your going to get obese overnight or something. Your still pretty young so your metabolism is still capable of processing fatty foods pretty fast but as you get older your metabolism will start to slow down and when you eat fatty foods like you just said your body wont be able to digest and process the fat quick enough and insted stores it ie you get fat. Some people have stronger metabolisms than others but if you start eatting fatty foods from a young age it increases the time it takes for your metabolism to slow down.

Other than that you could have a tapeworm in your gut stealing yourz foods.

Some people simply have faster metabolism than others, there is no doubt about that. What I find it interesting, is the media tend to make a big deal out of anorexia too, often blaming fashions and celebrities for it. So what is our society's stance really?

Ker-ching - right on the money. I couldn't put on any weight when I was younger but now.. I have to think about what I eat. Couple that with having to drive to work (too far to cycle) and having a job where i'm not on my feet all day and it's suddenly hard to burn those calories. The last thing i want to do is get on the treadmill after work but I must.. I must.. The scientists are merely reflecting on the fact that society has changed massively in a relatively short period of time - far more people are white collar workers now and there's far more sedentiary distractions too. We're also more affluent than we once were - more disposable income for eating out (bad), drinking (really bad) and buying naughty foods too (which, by the way, have got a lot naughtier too via content and convenience).

You'll all be fat one day you young whippersnappers.

Heart disease and heart attacks etc. aren't only the preserve of the obese, so you'll get your place in the dirt if you don't do any exercise AT ALLor eating SOME heathier more wholesome foods, like BEEF .

Mmm, boiled eggs. I loves me boiled eggs.

But yeah, eat some healthy stuff Steve. I had potatos, mixed veg and fish for dinner yesterday.

Don't eat junk food all the time, or you'll turn into a wheezy, fatso who can't see his own pee-pee. And then Jen will leave you for a dwarf.

It does my head in when scientists insist on spending money to find out something you can see just by walking down the street! I mean, it's not difficult to see that there's more overweight people on the streets!

I heard recently that clothes for people over certain sizes (16 for women, not sure for men) will have an added tax on them...how disgusting is that? And overweight people won't be entitled to free healthcare soon either if certain parts of the government get their way. I reckon soon obesity will be treated like leprosy...
