    Taking liberties

Just got this on DVD and watched it today : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0977667/

Thought I would see if anybody else had seen it and if there are actually still any people that think Blair isn't a war criminal around.

I found the film itself to be very interesting and rather disturbing in some ways. I am already pretty aware of the totalitarian streak of this government so I knew a fair amount of what was in here already but I was shocked by some of the stuff concerning 'extraordinary rendition' and the torture our government was complicit with.

    Re: Taking liberties

I saw this on the plane on the way to the States in July - I was pleasantly surprised at how well put together it was.

My reactions were similar to yours, it was rather preaching to the converted in terms of content, but, equally, some of the examples of appalling pieces of legislation they found was new to me, thus I had to spend a long time on the plane finding solace in remembering that the place I was going to was even worse. What a bunch of bastards.

Worth a watch if only for the fact that it contains Mark Thomas, Boris Johnson AND Tony Benn.

Is it literally taking fact or is it one of those 'that is the path we are heading down' type thing?

The general thrust was about the liberties that Labour has already crushed and where it all might head. There was some good stuff with Mark Thomas where he organised loads of people to each file for a single protest outside parliment each on the same day just to overwhelm the police with paperwork.

I think I'll rent it, but as it has Tony Benn and Mark Thomas, 2 people who I hate more than most I doubt I will enjoy it.

err I think he was making a bloody good point in fact, why should the police be burdened with any of this crap? Just because the govt does not want to see or hear protesters outside of parliment.

    So what if he is?
I would rather have had him running the show than David Cameron. The man is just so false!
We could have had a Liberal i suppose. Trouble is, none of them could stand up. Their arses were so numb from sitting on the fence.

Shame Enoch isnt still around tbh....he wouldve been excellent.

Well, I can't really disagree with you there. in all honesty I think I would make the best prime minister this country has ever seen... but I doubt it will happen.
