    Prince Harry in Afghanistan

Now the news of his presence in the area is in the public domain (thank you america!), is it time to bring him home? Not only for his safety, but for th safety of his platoon, who've now become the most hunted people in the area.

    Re: Prince Harry in Afghanistan

Get the ginger nob back to Blighty. He is third in line for the throne, and as such, can't be getting shot in the face by the Taliban.

Mind you, Harry isn't a good name for a King.

Charles is. William is. Harry doesn't sound right.

Its like Keith, or Gav. You can't be King with a name like that.

    Re: Prince Harry in Afghanistan

Usually I'd say "He has every right to be out there fighting for a cause as much as any other British soldier".... but that would be bullcrap, I'm 100% against us being in Iraq and want every soldier to be brought home.

Though I'm really not suprised about the news, the original story was all over the news then all of a sudden... nothing. The army blatently told the media to put a sock in it.

LOL Stewart! You do make a good point.

It is just silly having him in the army, but then again, it probably keeps him off the drugs?

    Re: Prince Harry in Afghanistan

I totally respect his stance on wanting to be there, however, the Taliban will be all out to kill him now. As he with the Gurkhas too, can't really blend in with the rest of the platoon can he

There've been a few Harry types (eight at the last count, I believe!)

They should probably pull him out now his cover's blown but I would imagine his time's nearly up if indeed it isn't already? I'm glad he got a stint, so long as they can protect those around him as much as possible then good luck to him.

    Re: Prince Harry in Afghanistan

I disagree with the idea that he should be forced to pull out; firstly, although I disagree with us being in Iraq, I don't have the same issue with Afghanistan. Secondly, the British Army in Afghanistan is under attack anyway. If the judgement of the Army is that the risk can be kept manageable, and he wants to stay, then he should be allowed to.

    That was 'enry, 'enry V.

Henry, yes. Harrold, yes. But Harry is a name for a football manager.

Harry and Henry are the same name from different periods, granted, but you still can't be called Harry and be King. Shouldn't really be allowed to be ginger.

Dean is another name you can't be a King with.

    Jason another.

You can be King Stephen, but not King Steve.

Nor Barry. Can't be King Barry.

    Nor Alex.

    Re: Prince Harry in Afghanistan

I'd like to see King Colin or King Trevor... or Nigel...

On the Harry front, if it was just him in the firing line, then ok, he can stay if he wants, but he's put his whole comapny at risk which I don't agree with.
However I should have also voted C, as I don't support these illegal wars tbh. Afghanistan, did we not learn anything from the Russian occupation?

You also missed the "We have a royal family???" "Still???" "How quaint!?" "Why?" "How retrogressive and backward is this country??" "Very, it seems" option.

    King Barry ftw tho.

    Re: Prince Harry in Afghanistan

Is he really putting his platoon in danger, or is that just media hype?

Since I'm not nor ever have been a soldier, nor have I ever been to Afghanistan, I can't say. But it does seem unlikely that the Taliban would have much hope of targeting him above any other specific individual in the force over there.

Apart from the fact he's with the Gurkhas. Now is a tall pasty faced ginger bloke going to stand out with a bunch of short arsed asian hardasses... ? Genius decision that.

    Re: Prince Harry in Afghanistan

Well, in all fairness he's probably going to have his lid on when he's out and about so the ginger issue may be less of a problem, and there're quite a few British officers who serve with the Gurkhas, I believe? I utterly despise the Drudge Report for front-paging this, though; it's just such a stupid, pointless, imbecilic and greedy thing to do. They COULD have made the same deal as other outlets and kept the lid on in exchange for interview/access, and run the story at the end of his tour, but apparently that wasn't good enough for them.

I can't see as though there is any other option than to bring him home tbh. Liability for all concerned. I actually feel for him in a way, when i saw the interview last night, the guy obviously just wants to wipe his own butt like everyone else.
