Re: The state of music
They've taken to playing one CD over and over in my local gym which includes that track, it makes me want to cry a little bit every time I hear it.
If you want good music Radio 6 is worth a listen, it's only on DAB and webcast though. |

Re: The state of music
I can't understand the Kanye situation as well. Glasto also had a drop the demand of tickets for the first time which they covered up saying it was more the music lovers applying.
Erm... no mate, it's 'cos you've got an egotisical idiot in the form of JAY-Z headlining who thinks women are all hoes and all he should do is shout about his mate Shorty and his birthday and how they drink Gin & Juice. Anyway, how the hell do you dance to R&B ? Do you have to have the obligatory 1 hand shoved down your crotch as if you scratching a bad case of lice, followed by slightly bendy knees moving to the music as if you were on a cross channel ferry while hitting high waves? |

Re: The state of music
There is loads of good music out there, you just have to stay away from Radio1, and MTV (as well as it's spin off stations).
As always I recomend listening to BBC 6Music. They play from fantastic stuff that you just wouldn't get anywhere else. They are closer to the music that matters after all ![]() I personally don't think music is worse than before, in fact I think it is far more diverse than it's ever been. Probably because the market is far larger than it's ever been. Sure the big three lables are strugling, but thats because their business models are pathetic. Smaller, indipendant lables are doing well, artists are releasing their own material in their own way. The only problem is you have to waid through the dross to find it. No different than it's ever been though. |

Re: The state of music
I'll seconded that. I've got approximately 5 years worth of breezeblocks all saved at home on the HDD's and MAH has had some stonking sessions played on them from the major big names, as well as a few unknown names such as Surgeon, London Electricity, Coldcut etc

Re: The state of music
Actually thinking about it, some of the evening shows on Radio1 used to be good too. Steve Lemaq used to do a good show, but he's on 6Music now. And I think it was a Thursday night when they used to go out to Scotland, Ireland and wales too.
But the daytime shows are still terrible. |

Re: The state of music
I've not listened to the radio for years. Most music I listen to now is stuff that I've read about in Terrorizer Magazine (or heard from the cover mounted CD) or had recommended to me by people I know.
I'm in two minds as to whether it's getting more commercial, or if it's that I'm just getting older; after all, don't most peoples' parents complain that music ain't what it used to be? My grandad also apparently made similar complaints about my dad's taste in music too ![]() It doesn't matter what your taste in music is; if you look hard enough, there is something for you somewhere on this here internet. Whether it's metal, classical, trance, brass bands, noise, folk, rap, whatever... there will be plenty of people on plenty of online communities that are eager to increase your musical palate.
