I have seen one once and it was a massive surprise! Really made my heart race, I was ust putting my coat on and as I flung it round to put my arm into the jacket there was suddenly for a split second a young boy standing infront of me looking right at me.

very much like the small boy standing in this picture

    Re: Ghosts?

I also have to ask what is a ghost?

A concious being or some unexplained recording of the past?

If it is a former living person then I would have thought your whole outlook would change. All possessions and status would cease to have any value. I guess sexual desire would cease to drive or motivate you.

I wonder what such an existance would be about. I find it hard to believe a being with no physical mass would care about a house or who lives there since they died. Or about scaring people out of it,

Our air is polluted with radio and TV signals and mobile phones. And smog from cars and stuff.

How do you a ghost is not your mind playing tricks or a camera just malfunctioning?

I think in general people have an arrogance. Like unlike any other animal on the planet we will never die. And that a ghosty would have any interest in us.

    Re: Ghosts?

I'm on the fence on this issue to be fair, whenever I'm asked what my opinion is on ghosties and ghouls I always come out with the standard line "I've lived opposite a graveyard for the last 22 years and have never seen or heard anything out of the ordinary" and it's true, I never have but there are people I know and trust that are so utterly convinced they've seen something supernatural that it's enough to make me wonder...

My father for instance, he claims saw a "woman, dressed all in white with no legs in the kitchen" more than once after we first moved into the house, as a kid I was always sure he was taking the mick but despite much ribbing and skepticism on my part he's still totally convinced of what he saw to this day and won't back down on it. More recently I found out a mate that used to work on the old severn valley railway has seen a figure in a long black station masters coat step clean off a platform and dissapear into thin air one night while he and friend were mucking about in the yard after hours one night, he too is completely convinced what he saw was real and there's even a little bit of history that backs up his story as well. I won't say I'm a believer but in my opinion there's certainly a chance that there's something more to the world we walk around in that we just can't see.

    Re: Ghosts?

I've seen figures when walking through the woods late at night, put my tourch there and they vanish.

However, been in posestion of reasoning skills i can conclude its my mind joining dots, extrapolating to something which isn't there. Why call them ghosts when they are fingments of your imagination. Look at some of the classic optical illusions, do people say they are supernatural?

    Re: Ghosts?

I've always thought similarly, I used to work nights and when I was especially tired my brain and eyes seemed to love getting together to make me catch glimpses of things that weren't really there out of the corner of my eye but listening to my mate Dave recount how he and someone else both watched this chap step off the platform into nothing and the level of detail with which he describes it I know that it wasn't just a fleeting glimpse of some opitical illusion.

As I said I'm very skeptical, I've never seen anything first hand I can't explain away scientifically and I won't fully believe in the supernatural unless I do but those two accounts are enough to keep me open to the possibility tbh.

    Re: Ghosts?

supernatural stuff doesn't make sense so theres no way they can exist, not in the 'classcal' sense of a ghost anyway. the 'classic' ghost, ie semi transparent floaty figure, obviously sprang from ppl's nightmares back in the day before science literacy.
