    Budget PC build

    Hi All,

I built a PC with the advice from some of you guys a few years ago. unfortunately I had to sell it due to space in my house, Thankfully my wife has finally agreed that i can rearrange the house and I've made some room. So I want to build another PC. I've been using a laptop since selling the last PC so I dont have any components so will be starting from scratch again. Budget of about £300 only unfortunately. would like to be able to play some games but. I've got 2 small kids so don't have that much time for that any more. just something thats quick(ish). I have managed to pick up a monitor for free so don't need that but everything else is needed. I've had a look on Scan and I think I can do it but would like some advice on what components to get that are reasonably well matched on performance.

    thanks in advance

Is space still an issue? Is it going to be on a desk on floor standing?

Games on a budget sounds like an AMD Llano to me.

The good news is anything you get will seem faster than what you have had over the last few years.

    Re: Budget PC build

AMD is doing £10 cashback on the A6-3670K meaning you can get it for under £50 delivered from Amazon.

The following build uses parts from Amazon and Ebuyer.

You can get Nectar points on Amazon purchases and Top CashBack and Quidco do cashback on Ebuyer purchases.

The total with the cashback should be just under £310.

Here is my review of the A6-3670K:

If you are willing to buy secondhand parts, you will probably get a faster build for gaming though!

    Re: Budget PC build

If you can "get hold" of a "free" version of windows 7, then you might want to spend that £70 you saved on a HD6670.
The 6670 will cross-fire with the GPU on the processor, giving you very nice performance.

Also note that AMD have said that they will be releasing some APU (GPU built into processor) versions of their FX processors (their 'flag-ship' processors). If your not in a rush and can push your budget by another £20-50, it might be worth waiting to see what they release.

    Re: Budget PC build

I'm not sure what monitor it is. its sitting at work at the moment just waiting to bring it home, might be a daft question but how do i find out what type it is? I am currently a student so i should be able to get windows for cheaper i believe, (£40 i think) space is still a bit of an issue yes, smaller the better. not in a rush at the moment, got to wait until next pay day at least before i can make a purchase.

I would wait for AMDs APU if you can stretch the budget a small bit. If not just got for a HD6670. Look around though sometimes you can find some real nice bundles.

    Re: Budget PC build

Just remember a PC is only as good as its worst part, so don't pay £150 for a GPU and only £20 for a PSU!
