Upgrade the graphics card in your current rig and use Mantle?

That's a really good GPU, go with an intel CPU, probably an i5. As for mantle, it would work for BF4 but when op wants to play other games, he will be held back by his CPU. R9 290 would be good for 1440p if you can spare the cash.

If i was you I'd go with a card with a better and quieter cooler to allow for overclocking. I'd also get a after-market cooler for the same reason. I'd also get different RAM with the same specs but without the stupid heat spreaders, all they do is get in the way. Where are you expecting to buy these parts from because the price seem a bit off for scan..

If you are looking to save money just get a 8320 and overclock it to speeds that match or surpass the 8350. You can also get a non overclocked 280x and overclock it yourself.

Yeah that build is approx £1075 on Scan and £980 on Amazon (but with 8gb Vengence memory).

For BF4 I don't know how important the i7 would be. I could be wrong but I don't think you'd lose any substantual amount of performance with an i5 instead (if you go for a k series and swap that H97 for a Z97 then you'll also have huge overclocking potential).

Then might as well switch from i5/i7 and go for a Xeon, like Xeon E3-1240 v3 for £196.60 from Scan. 3.8Ghz Turbo, quad-core, 8 threads, no IGP thus cooler.

Honestly, the graphics card will be the limitation in the current system.

Re: suggestions for a new build

I agree with Cat, upgrade your GPU and you can even upgrade your CPU to an FX8350 as you are using an AM3+ mobo so long as you update the firmware to version 1605 or later and this will leave you with plenty of money to spend on your monitor and other accessories, doing it that way you could even be able to go for an R9 290X.
