If you don't need, don't update your BIOS! So you can keep your free 300Mhz extra.
Asrock might call the system something different? It might have to be manually enabled, as technically it's running the CPU 'out of spec'. On my Asus motherboard (I'm also on Ivybridge), I think it's automatically enabled if you activate the XMP profile. I assume you've got the most up to date BIOS for your motherboard?

    Edit!

I have a piece of software installed which allows me to specify the performance (Battery Saving, Standard or Performance modes) - that adjusts the CPU settings automatically. When I turn the PC on later, I'll have a look at what it's called (something like A Asrock Utilities I think)

I am pretty sure Windows can do that too (maybe your program just adjust the Windows settings to reach the desired effect..)

I am on XMP profile (Crucial XMP 1.35v with manually enhanced timings).

In my BIOS, the only relevant settings is the value for the Turbo multiplicator for each individual core, or all at the same time. And it does get ignored (tested with several programs).

Will post a PIC next time I can (would do it here too but my upload cache or what it is called is full and can't delete).
